I booked this car through QEEQ and at first everything felt pretty smooth. I was traveling alone to Bucharest and I arrived at the airport around one in the morning on April third 2026. I went to pick up a PAYLESS Dacia Logan with manual gear. I walked to the counter with my Norwegian credit card. I thought it would just be a normal deposit on the card. Then the staff looked at my card and their face changed. They said this card did not work and they could not make a deposit on it. They told me I had to buy their extra insurance. It was late at night and I was standing there alone. There were people waiting behind me. The air felt heavy and I started to feel a bit stressed. My English is not perfect and I was tired. I felt like I was pushed into a corner. The staff kept saying that if I did not take their insurance they could not give me the car. I turned the pages of the contract and my heart was not happy at all. I was also afraid that if I refused I would have no car. So in the end I signed. On the contract they added SCDW and wheel protection. It was more than one hundred euros extra. When I held the key in my hand I did not feel excited. I felt a bit cheated. I calmed down a few days later. I returned the car in the evening around April fifth. After I got back I kept thinking about it and it felt wrong. Then I reached out to their customer service. I told them the whole story. I said the counter did not accept my Norwegian card and forced me to buy their insurance. I thought they might just say I signed it so nothing could be done. This one to one follow up really surprised me. They asked me to send a photo of the contract. When I checked it again I saw that the deposit amount was zero. I remembered how the staff at the counter said my card did not work. I felt a bit scared because I had already signed. I wondered if I would lose all this money. They did not blame me. They just asked me step by step to send everything I could find. Later I sent photos of my credit card. I also went to my bank app and got a proof of my credit limit and sent screenshots. Those days I was working and also replying to their messages. My phone was full of chats with them. I could feel that every time I sent something new they would soon explain the next step to me in simple words. I did not know how they talked with the rental company. I just felt that someone stayed on my side and talked for me. At one point they told me the rental company still did not really accept these proofs. They said my bank looked like an online bank. When I saw that message my heart dropped again. I thought I might need to pay the full amount in the end. They still tried to fight for me and explained the situation to me. They told me they would try to lower my loss as much as possible. In the end they said they could cover part of the extra cost so I did not need to pay everything. I was sitting in front of my computer when I read that. I suddenly felt I could really breathe again. That moment I felt that even if the pickup at the counter was really bad later there was someone always walking through the whole problem with me. As a solo traveler in a strange city it felt like there was at least one person standing on my side.
