I booked my car in Bangkok through QEEQ and I thought it would just be a normal rental. Around March 23 at noon I picked up a Toyota Yaris Ativ in Bangkok. The car was fine and easy to drive. I also bought AXA Full Coverage at that time. I only thought it was an extra safety net and I did not expect I would really need it. Around the night of March 26 I was driving in the city. There was a part of the road with very weak street lights. I did not see something sharp near the side of the road. I drove over it and the car shook. I stopped and checked. The tire was badly cut and could not be used anymore. I felt a bit shocked. I was in a foreign country I did not know the roads well and I also worried that the tire would cost a lot of money. I called the rental company first. They came and helped deal with the car problem but they soon told me I had to pay for the tire myself. The cost was about 3000 THB. When I paid with my card my heart really hurt a bit and I kept thinking if the AXA Full Coverage I bought would help or not. After I went back to my place I calmed down and took photos of the receipt and the tire for records. Then I remembered that AXA Full Coverage includes tires so I contacted customer service. I told them what happened that my tire was damaged during my Bangkok rental and I already paid 3000 THB and I asked if I could get a claim. They said they could help me apply and asked me to send my passport page my credit card charge record and the photos of the damage. I was still moving around the city these days but I found some time to put everything together and send it to them. After a while customer service reached out again and said the claim was being handled. They asked me which currency I wanted for the payout. I did the math and confirmed the amount they told me which matched 82.13 THB in their calculation so it basically covered my tire cost. Later they told me the claim was approved and I just needed to wait for the money. At that moment I really felt relieved and all my worries were gone. This experience showed me that AXA Full Coverage is really important when driving abroad. I was very nervous when the tire problem first happened but when I saw that I could get the tire money back I felt really taken care of and I felt much more at ease for the rest of my time in Bangkok.
