One-Dollar Freeze

Did you really book the car with just 1 dollar first? My friend stared at me on video and asked. I laughed and said yes. I also could not believe it at the start. I was going to visit Cape Town in South Africa. I booked a Toyota Corolla automatic from Europcar with QEEQ. I planned to pick it up around the evening of March 19 around six and return it in Cape Town in early June also around six. The rental was pretty long. My biggest worry was not the car. It was my credit card limit. Paying so much in one time made me nervous. On the page I saw something called One-Dollar Freeze. It said I only need to pay 1 dollar first to lock the car. The rest of the money would be charged automatically before the rental starts and there is no interest. My first thought was that it sounded too good to be true. I even did some math for the more than seventy days rental. If I paid all at once it would give my card a lot of stress. So I decided to try this plan. When the payment page came out I asked myself again while looking at the screen. Is it really just 1 dollar. When I saw the amount was really that low I felt much more relaxed. After the payment went through my booking showed as confirmed. At that moment I felt I kind of got a nice deal. Some time later I was checking my trip again. I was thinking if I could maybe visit Botswana Eswatini or Lesotho during the journey. I also thought if I had paid everything at the start it would be harder to change plans. Now with only a tiny amount frozen first I felt less pressure when I adjusted my ideas. A few days before the real start date I suddenly remembered the rest of the money. A question popped up in my head. When will they charge it and will there be any problem. I opened my card bill and saw the charge was done as expected. The amount was correct with no extra money taken. In that moment I felt very calm. I almost did not need to do anything. It was like they arranged the payment for me in the background. When I chatted with my friend I even joked about it and said now I book cars starting with just 1 dollar. He told me he always paid full for long rentals before and his card almost exploded. Then I realized this pay a little first style really fits people like me. I am kind of a student type traveler with limited budget who still wants to go far. Later when I was packing and reading travel tips I did not feel that my bank card was drained. I was only waiting for a time point when they would auto charge the rest. For me the best part was that my credit card felt much less pressure and I did not need to remember to pay the balance by myself. When it was almost time to go to Cape Town everything about the payment was already done and waiting. It all started with a small 1 dollar move and it made my whole trip feel more relaxed.

Price Drop Protector

The thing that made me happiest at the start was not the car. It was that I felt I kind of earned some money for free. After I paid for the booking, I checked my email later and saw a message that said the price went down. They had already rebooked it for me and were giving me back a bit more than 50 ZAR. I only had one thought in my head. This is actually pretty nice. I booked through QEEQ for a car in Cape Town in South Africa. I planned to pick up the car around the evening on May twenty fourth, about half past five, and return it in Cape Town in the evening on May twenty sixth. The rental company is Avis and I chose a Volkswagen Polo. It is a small manual car with four doors. For someone like me who is just twenty years old, having a car to drive already feels great. When I first finished the booking, I was chatting with my friend. I said I felt the price was ok and it probably would not go much lower. My friend joked that I must have booked too early. I felt a bit unwilling in my heart but I was also too lazy to watch the price every day. Later one day I was checking my emails and I suddenly saw a notice. It said that because I had Price Drop Protector, the system found that the price for my booking was now lower, so they had rebooked it at the new lower price and the difference would be returned to me. At first I was confused. My first reaction was to think I got charged again. Then I read it carefully. The price was cheaper and they主动帮我重订 and saved that part of the money for me. I looked at my phone and started to laugh. I thought someone is really watching the price for me. In my head I talked to myself. You see, you were worried you booked too early, but you still saved some money in the end. I am going to drive in Cape Town and there will be many costs. Fuel, tolls, food and places to stay all need money. Saving a bit is still good. The amount they gave back is not crazy big, but it feels like a small extra pocket money that just appears. I can use it for a few more coffees or some small gifts. It feels like I pulled a small bonus for myself. What I liked more is that I did not have to do anything. I did not ask anyone to change the price. Everything just happened by itself. When I found out, it was already done and I just needed to show up at the Avis counter in Cape Town and pick up the car at the time I planned. It feels like someone is watching your bill in the background and moves you to the cheaper price as soon as they see it. I even showed off to my friend. I said it was lucky that I chose the plan with Price Drop Protector, otherwise the price would drop and I would never know. My friend said it was like I won a small prize. I am not the type who counts every single coin, but this time made me feel that this feature fits young people like me very well. I have school, part time work and trip planning. There are already many things to handle. I really do not have the time or energy to watch car prices every day like stocks. Now it feels easy, because it saves money for me in the background and gives me a nice little surprise.

One-Dollar Freeze

Can I really lock a car with just one dollar first This was the question in my head on my business trip to Johannesburg. I booked through QEEQ and chose their One-Dollar Freeze plan. My travel plan was not one hundred percent fixed and I did not want a big amount on my credit card at the start. When I saw I only needed to pay one dollar to hold the car, I felt much more relaxed. I picked a compact manual car with four doors and five seats from Hertz at Johannesburg airport. It felt right for a business trip. I confirmed the booking around the evening of April 28. The price on the screen was clear. In my mind I thought that if my plan changed later, at least I did not have a big charge stuck on my card. The stress on money and credit was much lower. One or two days before the pickup date I got a message from my bank. The rest of the rental fee was charged automatically to my card. I did not click any extra button and I did not need to remember any payment date. I just waited for the notice. When I saw the charge was successful I checked the numbers. Everything looked normal and there were no extra fees. This made me feel safe about the whole thing. On April 29 in the evening I went to the Hertz counter at Johannesburg airport to pick up the car. The staff checked my paid booking and my license. While I was standing there I felt glad I used One-Dollar Freeze to lock the car earlier. I did not worry about cars being sold out or some card problem at the counter. For a business traveler like me the process felt simple and easy to control in time. On the return day which was around the evening of April 30 I drove the car back to the airport and gave the keys to the counter. I did a small cost check in my head. The part that felt best to me was still that first one dollar. There was no interest and no strange extra cost. The pressure on my credit card was smaller so I could keep more limit for other business expenses. For someone who flies a lot this kind of payment plan feels like a small but very real win.

Price Drop Protector

That day I was sitting at home and looking at photos of Table Mountain in Cape Town. In my head I could already see myself driving on the road by the ocean. I booked a Toyota Corolla Cross with Bluu Car Rental on QEEQ. I planned to pick up the car around the morning of October 25 and return it the next afternoon. It was just a small trip for myself and the plan felt right. When I booked, I checked my budget very carefully. I travel alone so I want to spend money in a smart way. The price looked okay and I paid with my card. I did not think too much after that. I just went back to planning where to take photos, what food I wanted to try and if I should leave early to avoid traffic. After some time I checked my email and saw a new booking confirmation. The order number looked a bit different from the one I remembered. I thought I maybe booked twice by mistake and my heart jumped a little. I was worried that my card would be charged two times. I opened the email and then I saw it was because of Price Drop Protector. They saw that the price for the same car went down and they already made a new booking for me. I looked closely at the amount. The new order was cheaper by more than 80 ZAR. For me as a student traveling alone that is not a small thing. With that money I can get one more nice dinner or buy an extra postcard to keep as a memory. The key point is that I did not do anything special. I just booked the car like normal and they saved the money for me in the background. In that moment I felt a bit surprised and also amused. It really felt like I earned money for free. I always thought this kind of protection was more like a slogan. I did not expect it to actually work when I was not watching the price at all. They sent me a fresh confirmation. I compared the two emails. The rental company was still Bluu Car Rental and the car group was still Toyota Corolla Cross. The pickup and return in Cape Town stayed the same. Only the price was lower. When I think about my trip in October and imagine walking out to the counter and taking the keys, it feels nice to know that this car is already cheaper than the first price I saw. I do not need to watch the price every day or feel bad that I booked too early. I just lock in the car I like and if the price goes down then I get a little surprise. For someone like me who plans everything alone and watches my budget, that feeling is very reassuring.

Price Drop Protector

I will say this first. I kind of earned money for free this time. How did that happen. I booked my car on QEEQ for South Africa and I picked an Audi Q5. The plan was to pick it up around the night of October 26 in Port Elizabeth and drop it off around November 11 in Cape Town. When I booked it I was still thinking about the price. Should I wait. Will it get cheaper. Then I saw a service called Price Drop Protector. I asked myself. Will this really save me money or is it just a name. Then something strange happened. One day I checked my credit card and the amount for the booking looked a bit lower than I remembered. I asked myself. Did they charge me wrong. Will they take more money later. I went to check my order and I found out they had rebooked it for me at a lower price and sent the price difference back to me. At that moment I only had one thought. I did nothing and still got extra money back. I asked myself again. If I did not have this Price Drop Protector would I ever know the price went down later. The answer is no. I would miss it. No one will watch the price every day. I am not a pro in this. I am just an overseas traveler getting ready for a trip to South Africa. For me this kind of saving money without doing anything feels really nice. It is like someone is watching my budget for me and when there is a chance they say hey you just saved some more.

AXA Full Coverage

I have to say this first. If I did not buy AXA Full Coverage with QEEQ, I would probably pay those bills in many parts now. The result was good in the end, but the middle part felt like one problem after another. I picked up the car in Nelspruit in South Africa on an afternoon around February 11th 2026 at about three. It was a Toyota Rumion from Europcar. Manual, four doors and five seats. I was traveling alone. I thought it would be just a normal self drive trip. Then the first car started to go wrong. That day the wind was crazy. The speed on the road was not low. I sat in the car with my bag and the window open so I could look outside. The wind got stronger and stronger. My bag was blown out. The car key was inside the bag. I was shocked. It did not feel like someone’s fault. It was just this thing that happened so fast that I could not stop it. With the key gone there came towing and other costs. The rental staff made a long bill. I only remember my heart beating fast when I saw the tow fee and the damage fee. Before I could calm down from this first car issue, the second car had an accident on the road. Another high damage cost. In that moment I had only one thought. With my student level budget there was no way I could pay all of this by myself. I was really glad that I added AXA Full Coverage when I booked. The rental counter only did their job and charged money. What I could do was collect every paper and send them to the customer service team. The invoices were in South African Rand. When they were changed into euro later I was already numb. I just knew the total was around two thousand plus euro and it looked scary. For a while I spoke a lot with the support team. I tried to explain the first car key story very clearly. I said again and again that it was strong wind and the car speed together. The bag was blown away. It was not me being careless on purpose. I also said the key cost should not be covered only by a very small limit because the real cost was much higher. They did not argue with me. They did not push the blame to me. They told me they would pass my words to the insurance side to review. At the same time I had to ask the rental company for all kinds of documents. Some invoices showed costs for both cars. I checked line by line because I was afraid to miss anything. For me, a person who already feels tired reading long English contracts, those days felt like doing homework and being scared to make mistakes. One day I got the message that the claim was paid. When I saw that the payout was about 2341 euro and that it basically covered the damage and tow costs from both cars, I let out a long breath. Those big bills that could crush me were now covered by the insurance. My solo trip did not turn into a total money disaster. When I think about it now, if I only had the basic insurance from the rental desk, things like the lost key and the tow fee would be mostly on me. With AXA Full Coverage these parts were paid back. The process was tense and a bit tiring, but in the end getting that compensation made a huge difference for me as a solo traveler who does not have a lot of money.
