One-Dollar Freeze

Do I need to pay a big amount first when I book a car in Reykjavik Iceland? That was my first worry. I was going with my kid. I planned to pick up the car around four in the afternoon on May 2 and return it in Reykjavik around four on May 6. I had already paid a lot for flights and hotels. So I kept asking myself if the car rental would push my credit card too hard. Then I saw One-Dollar Freeze and I started to do the math in my head. Can I really lock a Jeep Renegade or a similar car with just 1 dollar first? I asked myself again if there would be any hidden interest. I read the info a few times and asked myself one more time if there was really no interest. The answer came later when the rest of the money was charged. On my bill it was only the normal rental price. There was no extra strange fee. When I paid the 1 dollar I still felt a bit unsure. I was afraid the car might not be safe for me or the charge later would hit me all at once. Then some time before the pickup day the rest of the money was taken automatically. That day I was packing for my kid and checking the bill on my phone line by line. I felt less pressure because the big amount did not leave my card months before the trip. It only showed up close to the time we really needed the car. For me as a parent who has to plan the family budget this way made my credit card pressure much lower. I booked through QEEQ and for me the whole thing just felt like the money moved step by step and did not eat my whole credit limit at once. That made me feel quite calm.

One-Dollar Freeze

When I walked out of the airport in Reykjavik the cold wind hit my face and I was pulling my suitcase and suddenly thought I was really glad I only paid 1 dollar first for the car booking. If I had paid everything at the start my credit card would feel very tight. When I booked the Dacia Duster with Icerental 4x4 on QEEQ I saw the One-Dollar Freeze option and I just wanted to try it. I told myself I can lock the car first and then see how my plan goes. In my head I also thought if my trip changes I do not have too much money stuck on my card. A few days before the trip I started to check my booking details more carefully. I remembered the pick up around that week in the morning and I felt a bit nervous and excited. On the morning I walked out to wait for the shuttle to the rental office I suddenly worried if the rest of the payment was charged already. I took out my phone and checked my card. The payment showed as completed a short time before the rental start and the amount was correct. I felt calm and thought okay everything is going fine. When I arrived at the Icerental 4x4 lot the sky was a bit gray and the wind was strong. There were many cars in a row and when I saw the Dacia Duster I felt a small sense of achievement. I booked it early and now it was really there. I remembered that I only paid 1 dollar to hold this car and now it was waiting for me. It felt a little funny like I made a wish before and now it came true. While the staff at the counter checked my booking I also checked my card balance in my mind and I knew my credit limit was still okay. I did not feel heavy pressure from this booking. Back at home when I was planning the budget I thought the car cost would eat a big part of my card limit. At the same time I had to pay for flights and some activities. Because I only paid 1 dollar at the start there was almost no stress in that period. I could keep more limit for things like a flight change or other surprises. I was really happy that I did not choose full payment at once because for a student the card limit is very important. During my days in Reykjavik when I came back to my stay at night I sometimes checked my card again. I wanted to see if there were any strange charges. I saw only the planned car rental payment and nothing extra so I felt safe. The best part for me was the feeling in my head. I knew the money would be charged automatically before the rental so I did not have to remember a date. At the same time the charge was not too early so my card was not stuck with low balance for a long time. This whole thing made me remember the payment way more than the car itself. Paying only 1 dollar at first to secure the car felt really friendly for someone my age. When my travel plan is not 100 percent fixed this kind of plan makes me brave to book earlier. I do not need to wait until the last minute and I do not feel so nervous about my card.

AXA Full Coverage

When I look back now, this claim in Iceland was actually okay for me. The key point is that I had bought AXA Full Coverage. Without it I think I would still be worrying about that money. I booked the car on QEEQ. Around the end of March I picked up the car around March 27 at noon in Reykjavik. It was a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross from FAIRCAR, an automatic small SUV with four doors and five seats. I returned it around April 2 in the morning in Reykjavik. The most stressful part started after I returned the car. One day the car got scratched by a third party. The wind was strong and the road side was a bit messy. When I got out to check the car I kept thinking in my head, this is bad, they will charge me a lot. Later the staff at the car rental told me they did not charge me for car damage. They only called road rescue and I just paid that road rescue fee. I was a bit confused. I was worried they might still charge me later and I also wondered if my AXA Full Coverage could really pay me back this money. I started to look for all my papers. I checked the contract and emails. Then I found the contract seemed not very complete and I got nervous. I was afraid the claim would be stuck on this point. The rental company only sent me one email about the damage on the car. I saved a screenshot of that email. In my mind I kept asking myself if they would accept this screenshot and if I should go back to the rental desk to ask for more papers. Then I contacted their customer service and explained that I paid only the road rescue fee and that the rental company kept saying there was no damage fee taken from me. I asked if this would be a problem. The people who talked with me sounded calm and it felt like they were checking many things in the background. What I could do was just send more documents. I gave them the contract, the screenshot of the damage email from the rental company, and I explained again that I only paid for road rescue and there was no extra car damage charge on my side. At one point I saw a notice about canceling the claim and my heart dropped. I thought I clicked something wrong or my files had some big problem. Later they explained to me that the claim had already been reported and told me I did not need to worry too much. Those days I kept checking again and again because I was scared that I missed some step. The insurance side asked for the amount, the currency, photos and also wanted to confirm if there was any other cost besides the road rescue fee. I went through everything and answered all of that as clearly as I could. I also said that I wanted the payout in GBP because I came from the UK and it is easier for me to use. They passed this request to the insurance company too. That period of time was a bit annoying for me. I kept worrying if the report failed, if the files were not enough or if the claim would drag on for a long time. When they finally told me that the insurance company had approved the claim I felt much lighter inside. In that moment I really understood how lucky it was that I chose AXA Full Coverage when I booked. It did not only cover car scratches. It also covered this road rescue cost. For someone young like me this is important. When I travel my budget is not very big and sudden costs like this can put a lot of pressure on me if nobody pays it back. The whole process felt like handing in an exam paper and waiting for the result. My brain ran many crazy ideas in the middle and then I found out I passed and even got some extra points. When I think of those days in Iceland now I remember the strong wind and the amazing views and also this small accident. With this coverage behind me my mind did not break down so badly.

Dedicated customer service

I booked my car in Reykjavik through QEEQ and I thought everything would be smooth, but the start was a bit stressful. Around March 31 at midday I landed in Iceland, took my luggage and walked into the arrival hall. I followed the info on my voucher and tried to find the rental person, but I walked around again and again and saw no sign and nobody waiting for me. I started to panic a little and used the phone number on the paper to call the rental company. The phone rang for a long time and no one picked up. I tried again. Still no one answered. People were walking past me and I was just standing there waiting. I felt really anxious and kept thinking if I could not get my car then all my plans for that day would be messed up. At that moment I remembered I could contact the platform, so I sent a message to customer support and told them I could not reach the rental at the airport and also told them the time when it happened. I watched my phone while I kept checking the area near the exit, afraid I would miss someone holding a sign. After a while support replied. The tone was calm and they told me not to worry too much and that they would try to contact the rental for me. I felt a bit better but I still stayed there and waited for more news. Some time passed and I still could not reach the rental by myself. I was also getting cold and tired so I messaged support again and said I was still at the airport and nobody came for me. I could feel that they were really following this problem closely. It did not feel like they just sent one line and disappeared. Then they told me that to avoid wasting more time I could take a taxi to the City Car Rental office first and they would help me deal with the taxi cost. My head was a bit messy at that time but this plan sounded practical. So I went out and joined the taxi line. Before the taxi left I took a picture of the meter. When I arrived at the City Car Rental office I also kept the paper receipt from the driver. I told myself I must keep these or the money would be gone for nothing. At the office the staff helped me finish the pick up for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The car was fine and in good shape. My mood slowly got better, but when I thought of that waiting time at the airport it still felt a bit unfair. When I reached my place later, I took photos of the taxi receipt and sent them to support, and I also sent screenshots of my call history that showed I tried to call the rental at the airport. What surprised me was that from the first message at the airport to all the later steps it was the same support person talking to me. I felt that this person really stayed with my case and did not change every time so I did not need to repeat my story. After I sent the receipt, they reminded me that I also needed to give my bank card info so they could refund the taxi fee. I was a bit careful and asked some small questions. They explained things clearly so I decided to send my account details. In the next days I was still a bit worried that this thing might just fade away, and I did not know what the rental company would say. I could only see that support kept following up with me. Sometimes they checked if I had received their email and if I had read their note. I felt they were not just pushing the blame to the rental but were trying to solve the money part for me from their side. Later I got an email telling me that the taxi fee of 4650 ISK would be paid back to me and they would send the money to the account I gave them. At that moment I felt a big relief. I felt that all the trouble at the airport was at least not for nothing. For me the most important thing was not only the money itself, but that from the moment I had a problem, someone stayed with me on this, from the airport until the refund was confirmed. This time I could really feel what dedicated customer service means. It was not just someone saying you wait a bit or we will see. It was someone who remembered who I was, knew what happened to me and also made sure the whole thing was finished properly. As a tourist in Iceland who did not know the place at all, that feeling of being taken care of was very strong. On April 9 early in the morning I drove the car back to Reykjavik, filled up the fuel and did a quick check, then handed it to the rental staff. The return was fast and simple. When I look back, there was this small bad moment at the start, but because support followed my problem from beginning to end, my feeling about the whole rental experience is still very good and I feel more brave to arrange my own transport and trips in new countries.

AXA Full Coverage

When I think about this claim in Iceland I still feel quite calm now. I booked the car through QEEQ and I picked it up around the morning of March 12th 2026 in Reykjavik. It was a Suzuki S cross. The car looked pretty new and the rental counter staff were normal and efficient. I finished the paperwork and drove off to handle my business schedule. The real problem came a few days later. I was driving outside the city. The sky was a bit grey and the wind was strong. There were some small pieces of ice and tiny stones on the side of the road. I even thought in my head that in a place like Iceland the roads can be good but the glass always depends on luck. Then something small hit the windshield while I was driving. It made a clear sound and I saw a thin crack appear on the glass. For a moment I was just shocked. My first thought was that I would have to pay a lot of money for this. I parked the car safely and checked the windshield. The crack was not huge but it was not something I could ignore. Then I remembered that I had bought AXA Full Coverage. I felt a bit better but I was still worried because it was my first time having this kind of problem in Iceland and I did not know if the claim would be very troublesome. On the day I returned the car which was around the evening of March 19th I went back to Reykjavik and gave the car to the rental counter staff. They noticed the windshield issue very fast and they showed me a document with the repair cost. It was a bit more than two hundred euros. When I saw the number my heart became tight again. My brain started to convert it to SGD and I felt it was quite painful for my travel budget. I confirmed what the rental company needed from me. After that I contacted their customer service team and explained the whole situation and sent photos of the bills and the damage. In my head I kept thinking that if the claim did not go well my budget for this trip would be totally broken. In the next days I was busy with work but I also checked the progress from time to time. The customer service stayed in touch and reminded me which documents I should send again. For example they told me that my passport photo should be clear and my driving license photo should show my name. I followed these tips and took new photos and sent them over. Since my bank account is in Singapore I was also worried about exchange rate issues and random fees. I did not want to lose more money in the transfer. After some time they told me that the claim amount was confirmed. The refund would follow the euro amount and be paid to my Singapore account in local currency. The final payout was about one hundred forty euros in value. When I heard that I really felt relieved. The windshield was cracked but at least my wallet did not crack with it. For me the main feeling is that this AXA Full Coverage is not just some words in a contract. It actually worked in a real case. The rental company focused on charging what they needed to charge and the claim part was handled with help from the support team and the insurer. I only had to provide the documents as clearly as I could. As a business traveler my time and energy are important and I do not want to spend all of it fighting over an insurance bill. This experience saved me from a lot of stress. There was some worry in the middle but the result was good and looking back I feel that paying extra for this coverage was really worth it.

One-Dollar Freeze

I was sitting at Keflavik Airport in Iceland and looking at the wind blowing over the runway when it hit me that this whole trip kind of started with just one dollar. I had already returned the car and it was around the afternoon of March 27. Everything went fine and my credit card bill looked calm. That was because I used this One-Dollar Freeze service. If I go back to the time when I was planning the trip it makes more sense. The flight and hotel already cost a lot and I also wanted a small car in Keflavik so I could drive myself. I picked a Europcar Toyota Yaris Cross group with automatic gear and five seats. A small car felt easier for me. The problem was that there was still some time before I would travel and I did not want a big charge stuck on my credit card right away. One night I was comparing prices online and I found QEEQ. I saw a line that said I could book with One-Dollar Freeze. I was not sure at first. I thought to myself is it really only one dollar now and will they charge random things later. I read the description a few times. It said I only pay 1.00 dollar now as a booking fee and the rest will be charged automatically before the rental starts and there is no interest. That sounded good to me. It meant the pressure on my credit card would be smaller and I could keep more money for my flight and hotel first. I remember it was pretty late when I finally decided to book. The light in my room was a bit dim and I was staring at my laptop screen doing small math over and over. At the payment step the number really showed just 1 dollar. I checked my card number many times and my hand was a bit stiff when I clicked the confirm button. For a second I even stopped breathing. Then the confirmation email came. It showed my pick up time was around 4 pm on March 24 at Keflavik Airport in Iceland and the return was three days later in the afternoon. In the next weeks I did not think about the booking too much. I only remembered that I had not really paid the full price yet. Every time this came to my mind I opened my credit card app and checked. The bill only showed that one dollar. That made me feel quite safe. I was a bit proud too. I felt like I locked in the car without getting hit by the full payment. A few days before the trip I started to worry a little. I was afraid the rest of the payment might fail and that the car would not be ready when I arrived in Iceland. So I checked my card more often. One day I saw a new charge. It was the rental amount and it showed up just shortly before the start date. It was exactly what I expected. No extra fee and no strange number. That was the moment I fully relaxed. When I landed in Iceland the wind outside the airport was strong and the sky looked kind of gray. I pulled my suitcase to the Europcar counter and showed my booking to the staff at the desk. The person checked the computer and said the prepayment was already received and I only needed to swipe my card for the deposit. I stood there and felt pretty glad that I did not pay the whole rental cost long before. If I had done that my card limit might have been very tight when I had to leave the deposit. The car I got was from the Toyota Yaris Cross group. It was a small car waiting in the parking lot and it had a light layer of Icelandic dust on it. The air outside was cold and the wind kept blowing around me. When I put my luggage in the trunk I suddenly remembered that if there was no option to pay just 1 dollar first I might have delayed my booking or picked a cheaper company that I did not really trust. During the next few days I drove back and forth around Iceland. The wind and snow changed fast on the road and there were dark lava fields and some snow by the side. When I brought the car back to Keflavik it was close to sunset. The sky still had a soft blue color. I returned the keys and the check was done very fast. No one talked about extra money. A quick thought flashed in my head that it all started with that one dollar booking and I was glad I used it. Back in the airport waiting area I opened my credit card app again. The bill only showed the one dollar from before and the normal rental charge. Nothing extra. The payment felt light the whole time. For someone like me who still needs to plan every part of the budget this kind of payment plan really fits. I do not get shocked by a big charge at the start and I can still secure the car early. When I left Iceland this small detail stayed in my mind. Using One-Dollar Freeze made the money side feel much less heavy and it all began with a small line of text I saw on the QEEQ website one night.
