That night I was at home booking the car. The desk lamp was a bit dim and I was scrolling on my phone. I was thinking about how I would drive in Florida in a few days with a big Chevrolet Traverse. My first thought was that the price went up and I had to pay more. I opened it and saw the price went down. They already made a new booking for the same car group and calculated the difference. The amount was more than twenty dollars. I remember it was in the high twenties. It felt like I just made free money. I thought about it and realized I did nothing. I booked the car in a normal way and just kept living my life. The price check was done by them. I only got the result that I saved money. I was a bit surprised and also found it funny. In my head I said to myself that it felt like someone was secretly saving money for me in the background. For someone like me who travels alone this twenty something dollars is not small. It can be a good seafood meal or some extra small gifts. I looked again at my trip budget and it suddenly looked a bit lighter. I could feel that my whole trip cost felt less heavy because of this money. I was also happy that I clicked that option when I booked. If I did not choose it and the price went down I would never know. The best part for me was that I did not need to talk to customer service or search for a cheaper price by myself or cancel and book again. They fixed everything for me. I just need to show up and pick up the car on July fifth in the morning in Brevard County and return it on July thirteenth in the morning in Miami. My plan did not change at all but my wallet felt lighter in a good way. When I think about it this saved money feels like a small bonus for my trip. It also makes me more excited about driving that Chevrolet Traverse around Florida. I kind of feel like I got a small win before the trip even started.
