I moved a little to avoid it and then I hit something near the edge of the road. I got out and saw scratches on the side of the car. My heart sank. My first thought was that I would be charged a lot. The next day when I went to return the car the counter staff checked the damage. They were quite calm and just told me there would be a damage cost from them. I looked at the paper and felt my wallet hurt. Then I remembered I had that full coverage and I felt there was still some hope. After I left I took clear photos of the scratches again and kept all the papers from the rental company. Then I contacted their support and sent all the photos and documents. In my head I did not expect too much. I thought the claim process would be super hard and maybe very slow. They asked me a few simple things and then told me they would help me with the AXA Full Coverage claim and that I should just wait. I still worried it might be rejected. I checked for updates from time to time and kept thinking that if it really got paid it would be great. Some days later I got a notice that the claim was approved and the amount was about 167 dollars. It covered the cost from the rental company that was related to the scratches. I checked the numbers and it felt fair with no strange extra fee. In that moment I was really glad I bought this insurance. As a solo traveler that money would have been a lot of pressure for me. Now when I think about it this small accident became a lesson. Next time I rent a car by myself I will most likely choose this kind of full coverage again because it makes me less scared when something goes wrong.
