I was thinking about money first when I booked the car on QEEQ. I was planning a solo trip to Ontario in the middle of March and I needed a small car from FOX at the airport like a Toyota Yaris. At that time my credit card already had a lot of bills. If I paid the full rental fee at once I would feel very stressed. I saw there was a plan called One-Dollar Freeze. It said I only needed to pay 1 dollar first and the rest would be charged later before the pickup. There was no extra interest. In my head I thought I should lock the car first. No interest and no big hit on my card so I clicked confirm. When the payment went through my phone showed a charge of just 1 dollar. I was a bit confused and checked my booking a few times because I was scared I missed something. After some days I checked again. The booking was still there with FOX and the small car was still held for me. I felt much more relaxed. At the beginning of March I started to prepare the trip step by step. I fixed my flight and my stay and I knew the car was already reserved while I almost paid nothing at that time. I felt kind of smart. A few days before the trip I saw the rest of the rental fee charged on my credit card. Then I realized they had taken the money automatically and I did not need to do anything else. When I arrived at Ontario airport the wind was a bit cold and I walked with my suitcase to the FOX counter. On the way I thought if I had needed to pay all the money at the start I might have kept thinking about changing my plan. Now the car was locked early there was no interest and my credit card did not feel so heavy. I just gave my name and booking number and got the keys very smoothly. For someone like me who travels alone and still has a student style budget this way of holding the car with 1 dollar first and charging the rest later makes renting a car feel much less stressful.
