When I saw that long scratch on the car my first thought was just that I was totally ruined. A few days before I was still pretty happy. Around the morning of January 31st 2026 I picked up a Subaru XV from Jetset Rentals in Nadi Fiji. It was automatic so it felt easy to drive. I checked the car a bit took some photos and then I just wanted to get out and move around so I did not think too much. Then on February 2nd in the morning when I went back to return the car things changed fast. The staff at the rental office walked around the car and said there was a big scratch and a small dent on the side that was not there before. Their face became very serious. I stood there and I could not even tell when it happened. Maybe some parking spot I do not know. My heart started to race and my mind went blank. After that they showed me a paper and told me they had to charge a very high fee. When I saw the number my hands were sweating. It was around 10,000 HJD. I felt like I wanted to cry and the whole trip was destroyed. When I got back to my place I kept looking at the credit card charge and messages. Then I suddenly remembered that when I booked with QEEQ I added AXA Full Coverage to my order. At that moment I calmed down a little. I thought it was lucky I bought it or I really could not handle this amount. In the next days I was busy putting together the damage invoice from the rental company and the screenshots of the charges. I still felt very nervous. The numbers looked very messy. I could not see how they talked with the insurance company in the back. I only felt that they kept following up on my case and sometimes asked me if I had some more proof or other charge records. It felt like the case was moving step by step even if I did not know the exact point it was at. In my heart I worried that the claim might not get approved. At the same time I told myself that AXA Full Coverage is made for car damage and big extra charges. The description says it covers car damage and big loss when the rental takes a lot of money. I never thought I would really need it. When I clicked it at the start it was only for just in case. When the rental company finally confirmed that 10,000 HJD was the final amount I felt kind of numb. The number just sat there and it was so high. I am just a normal student traveling abroad and this was really too much. Those days I felt a lot of pressure. Every time I checked my credit card bill my heart sank. I also tried to make a claim with my credit card company so I was asking from that side too. I hoped I could get back some of the loss. During the whole thing what stayed in my mind the most was that AXA Full Coverage looked so small and not important when I bought it. It was just one more option to tick. But when the car was damaged and the rental took so much money at once it suddenly became the only thing that made me feel a bit safe. Every time I looked at those charges I checked my insurance again and told myself I was lucky I added it. Without it this simple Fiji trip where I just wanted to relax could have turned into a money nightmare I would remember for many years. The process was tiring with all the files and numbers going back and forth. But at least with AXA Full Coverage I knew I was not alone paying for the damage and even though I also tried to work things out with my credit card side I still did not regret adding this protection when I booked through QEEQ.
