Please bring your driver license and IDP to Automobile Association (AA) of Ceylon in Colombo in advance to get your IDP verified (endorsed). It will need the following documents: Clear scan copy of your IDP (front side & inner photo attached page), clear scan copy of your passport and a clear passport-size photograph of yourself. It’ll take several days to get the endorsement based on the time and date you visit their office.
Sri Lankan Temporary Driving Permit + International Driving Permit (IDP)
Please note that an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation. You must present your original driving licence together with the original IDP at the counter — photocopies or scanned copies are not accepted.
For international renters/drivers, an international driver's license and a valid passport are essential. The international driver's license must be validated by obtaining the endorsement from the Automobile Association in Sri Lanka. And a fee of 8,000.- L
