For this trip my car booking was supposed to be just a small part of my Brisbane plan. What really stayed in my mind later was the moment I found out I kind of earned money for free. At first I booked the car through QEEQ. I chose a Mitsubishi Outlander from Evolve Rentals because seven seats felt good for friends or family and an automatic car is not so tiring. When I placed the order I saw a service called Price Drop Protector. The text said if the price changes they will rebook with the lower price and pay back the difference. I did not think too much about it. I just felt it was a bonus and there was no harm to choose it. A few days passed. I was planning my time in Brisbane and I suddenly wanted to check my booking again. I opened my email and the site to see if anything changed. When I saw a new email I paused for a second. The subject had words about a price change. I clicked it and saw my old order number replaced by a new one. In the content there was a record that the car was booked again. I compared the amounts and then understood the price went down. They had already rebooked the same car for me with the lower price and sent back the price difference. I remember the number of the difference very clearly. It looked very big in AUD so I even checked it again to make sure I did not read it wrong. The feeling was like suddenly finding money left on a table that you forgot to take. I was not hoping to save money. I did nothing and still got extra budget. I did not contact customer service to ask about steps. From my side as a user I could clearly feel that I did not touch the booking. The car was the same and the city was the same. Only the price became cheaper and the extra money came back to me. Later when I thought about the whole thing it was just a normal process. I chose the car then checked the details then paid and left the booking there and waited for my trip. In the middle I did not watch the price every day or compare other platforms. When I first saw Price Drop Protector I only felt the name was cool. It sounded like someone was guarding my price. But until that email arrived I did not really feel the service. It was not something that needed me to click many times to make it work. I was busy with other parts of my life and my trip. It watched the price for me in the background and picked the right time to save me money. This is my first time going to Brisbane. My mind was full with many things to prepare. There is flight and stay and plans for each day. That already took a lot of energy. If I also had to refresh the price again and again and worry about booking too early or too expensive it would make the time before departure more tiring. This time with the car I almost forgot about the whole issue. In my mind the car booking was done and I did not need to touch it. Under this state where I did not care about the price anymore, getting a surprise of a lower price at the end felt really friendly to me as a young person, because I could use that extra money for a nice meal or more activities. Later I talked about this with my friends. They asked me how I noticed the price drop. I said there was nothing special. I logged in and saw the order amount had changed. The email also clearly said that the difference was paid back. That was how I knew Price Drop Protector was working. For me the most important thing was not the exact date of the change. It was the feeling that someone helps you watch the price. When we book things we often worry that we pay too much or too early. This time I felt like there was an automatic price guard that pulled me away from this kind of worry. I did not try to think how their inside system runs. I only saw the result in front of me. From my view as a user the old booking was swapped for a cheaper one and I did not need to apply or fill any form. What I could feel was simple. First I booked the car. Then after some time the price went down. They took an action. In the end I saw a better price and some money returning to my account. It felt a bit like a hidden reward in a game. I did not aim to finish a special task. At some point I was told there was a bonus waiting for me. For someone like me who is still slowly building up savings and has to count money for every trip this kind of automatic money saving is very useful. Because this experience came from QEEQ and it showed me that when the price really drops I really spend less, I now look for similar protection when I book other cars. I do not want only coupons that I must enter by hand. I want to book first with peace of mind and use my time for other things and let them watch the price. On a random day if I see a message that the price went down I know I have quietly saved money again. For me the special point of this story is that my trip had not started yet but my mood was already lighter because of Price Drop Protector. With it my Brisbane journey had a nice beginning even before I landed there.
