When I was planning my trip to Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, my head was full of numbers. Flights, hotel and now a rental car. I was a bit nervous about my credit card limit. When I was checking cars on QEEQ, I saw something called One-Dollar Freeze. It said I only needed to pay 1 dollar first to lock the booking. I thought to myself, is it really just 1 dollar. Where is the rest of the money. I was scared it was some trick, so I read the info a few times. Then I tried to book. My card was charged only 1 dollar and on my statement there was just this small amount. I felt much more relaxed because my credit card still had space for other trip costs. One or two days before the rental started I opened my booking again. The rest of the rental fee was charged automatically. I did not see any interest or strange extra fees. It was just the normal rental price. I told myself it was a good idea to try this. When I arrived in Saint Thomas around June 21 in the afternoon, I went to the Budget counter to pick up my Toyota Yaris. The staff looked at my confirmation and gave me the keys. They did not ask me anything more about payment. I did not need to stand there and worry about my card or do math. The whole thing felt easy. For me as an overseas visitor, paying only 1 dollar when I booked and then having the rest charged automatically made me feel less pressure on my credit card and that was really nice.
