Do you know you saved money on this car rental I said this to myself in front of my phone then I laughed because I felt a bit silly. So this is what happened. I booked a car in Eindhoven in the Netherlands through QEEQ. I planned to pick up the car around the morning of May 19 and return it the same night around nine. I travel alone and my plan was a bit tight so I wanted to lock the car early. At first I just saw something called Price Drop Protector on the page. I thought to myself. It just checks if the price will go down right. In my head I asked. Will the price really drop. Is this just some trick. I did not think too much. I did not need to do extra work so I turned it on. When I confirmed the booking I kept looking at the car model. It was a Peugeot 2008 from Avis with manual gear. I asked myself in my head. Will this car be nice to drive. Is there enough space for my luggage. After thinking for a bit I still pressed confirm. Around two days later I was checking my email. I saw a new message with a new booking number. My first reaction was. Oh no did I book twice. Did the system make a mistake. I opened it fast and saw that the price was a few euros lower than before. I asked myself again. Wait did I really pay less now. I went back to my old confirmation and saw that the old booking was changed to this new price. The feeling was a bit strange. I did nothing and suddenly I got back a few euros. I made a quick calculation in my head. It was not a big amount but for me as a solo traveler it was like one extra simple dinner. I also thought that without this Price Drop Protector I would never know that the price went down later. The best part for me was that I did not have to do anything. I did not contact anyone about the price and they just handled it on their side. I only followed my trip plan and sometimes checked my email then I saw the new lower price. In my mind I thought that sometimes you really can earn a bit of money for free and you do not need to compare prices everywhere or make a new booking. For someone like me who does not like to fuss this feeling was pretty nice.
