The Undocumented Scratch Ploy
This is the most frequent issue. Upon return, the agent inspects the car and points to a tiny, insignificant scratch—one that could easily happen on Cambodia's dusty or gravelly rural roads—and claims it's new. They then demand a high, on-the-spot payment for repairs, often far exceeding the actual cost. How to Avoid It: Your time-stamped video and photos from pickup are your ultimate defense. Calmly show the agent the evidence that the scratch was pre-existing. This almost always ends the argument immediately.
